Welcome to the most current man powered airplane website.

Not just a plain bike it's a bike plane.

Attach the wings and your flying over curbs fences using only your own power.

The Goal of this project is to fly a man powered aircraft in reasonable weather conditions a distance of 20 feet at 1 to 3 feet above the ground.

When I was 15 my dad would drive me in the car down to Arlington Airport so I could get in an airplane and go cruising through the air.  I finally got my private pilots license with over 90 hours because I had to wait to turn old enough. Later I received an instrument rated license also.  I always enjoyed flying and dreamed about being able to fly using my own power.  It would also be cheaper and could go anytime.

My dad built the first prototype in 1970 but was never finished.  Neither was the second or third prototypes. In November 2003 the doctor said I had high cholesterol and needed to exercise. Needless to say that sparked the motivation to get me back into shape. I started designing on the computer. Once the design was complete I began building. The current fuselage for the Skycycle was finished on March 21, 2004 and I now have pedaled over 1900  miles on it with a top speed of 34.2 mph.

What have I learned from riding the Skycycle.
The difference between a Dream and a Goal - the Date. Set a date and do something towards your Goal everyday and your Dream will come true.
When laying down my blood gets pumped quicker and easier because when I stand up after a fast ride I get a noticeable head rush.
When riding through the parks, the trees are never trimmed and yet I can still ride under them.
The wind resistance is low but the wind noise is loud. I guess because I have never ridden that fast on a conventional bike.
My legs are getting stronger very quickly.
Everyone looks at me then waves, then they smile, then as I pass by and cant see them I hear them laugh.
They always say it can't be done, but how do they know they never did it.
Never be afraid to try something new. Remember that a lone amateur built the Ark. A large group of professionals built the Titanic.
Don't drink too much water too fast when laying down.
And lastly an ice breaker to meet new friends.
